My journey towards nutrition is a personal one, which is where most meaningful journeys begin. I grew up surrounded by gardens, watching and eventually helping my mother and grandmother harvest and preserve the garden’s bounty to enjoy in the colder months. My dad was a hunter, a beekeeper, and he made maple syrup from the trees on our property. You could say that my younger years were formed by healthy nutrition.
Fast forward to life with 4 kids, owning a business, and going to school full time. That picture of slow and thoughtful nutrition flew out the window as I drove my kids from activity to activity. I found myself overwhelmed by information I was hearing, organic vs. local, GMO's, food allergies/intolerances, etc. I decided to go back to school and graduated with my B.S. in Wellness and Alternative Medicine. What I have learned is this: You are so capable of taking charge of your own health through what you are eating, how you are moving, and your environment. As I talked to more and more families who felt lost in the information and too busy to sift through it, Holistic Maine was born.
The goal of Holistic Maine isn't instagram perfect pictures of healthy choices I make. And yes, we still eat donuts on occasion! It is to show you how you can incorporate health into your daily life in a way that is manageable and sustainable.
So if you are feeling stuck, confused, or sick, let's chat.
